Description
Comprehension is the essence of reading. It's the process of constructing meaning using both the author's text and the readers background knowledge for a specific purpose. It is a complex cognitive process that involves vocabulary learning, instruction, and development. Comprehension enables students to make connections between multiple texts as well as connecting texts to ourselves and to real world experiences.
